Atlas Careno

A hamlet in the municipality of Nesso on the eastern shore of the Como branch of the Lario, the small and well-preserved village of Careno stands out by its distinctive shape: observed from the other side of the lake its form evokes an inverted triangle. The adaptive response to a specific morphology of the territory, stretching between the road on the uphill side – the base of the triangle – and the approach to the church of S. Martino a Lago – its vertex – results in the creation of terraces that give rise to a settlement of exceptional singularity within the Larian landscape.
