The second highest point in the Larian Triangle (1436 m above sea level) and a peak in the Lombard pre-Alps, Monte Palanzone offers broad panoramas opening onto the two branches of Lake Como, the Alpine foothills and Italian and Swiss Alps. There are various starting points for the climb to the summit. The best route leads from the Alpe del Viceré to the summit of Bollettone and then to that of Palanzone with a scenic journey along the ridge. At the top stands a pyramidal chapel built by the Circolo Cattolico “Alessandro Volta” of Como (1900)
