Studio Dezzi Bardeschi

The former church of Sant’Ambrogio is the last fragment of a larger monastic complex whose history is marked by transformations, with extensions and demolitions. The 2002 restoration project by the architect Marco Dezzi Bardeschi preserved the existing structures in all their historical layers, creating a route that involves both the original spaces and the later additions (first interventions 2002, conclusive lots 2006). His intervention was completed by two volumes characterized by their facing in polychrome brickwork, whose complex pattern alludes to the local lace-making tradition.
