The monument is associated with a curious event in the history of Como architecture. Inspired by a drawing by Sant’Elia, debated by coeval critics and artists, it was brought to completion under the guidance of the Terragni brothers. In gleaming Aurisina stone, it repeats the medieval proportions of Como’s towers. Stylistically it contrasts with the Tempio Voltiano. It is set in the sports area built in the same years and forms part of Como’s skyline. With its clean sublime, forms, it is a futurist presence forever bound to the city.
